Our hope is that with more awareness- restoration and preservation would replace the destruction of these beautiful, timeless buildings.
A century ago, midwesterners George Fred Keck, and his brother William Keck began designing residential and commercial buildings using principles like passive solar and thermal regulation, which would become both historically significant and technologically breakthrough. But they didn’t publish many articles, and they didn’t seek the spotlight. By comparison, Frank Lloyd Wright is undeniably one of the most acclaimed architects in the United States. I once heard an architectural historian say that the Kecks weren’t as well-known as Wright because they lacked the social sparkle that he had. No shade on FLW, but we think the Kecks deserve their flowers too.
